The learning environment refers to the teacher’s implementation of resources, routines, and procedures in order to provide students with a student-centered learning environment. The teacher should strive to create a safe and positive space for his/her students. Developing rapport with the students and practicing respect in the classroom is a great way to promote a supportive learning environment. This type of classroom encourages the student’s social interactions as well as active engagement in learning and self-motivation. Teachers will often collaborate with other teachers to develop a set of policies and procedures to ensure consistency in the school’s culture.

The relationships built between student and teacher are relationships that will become some of the greatest memories. Receiving these cards on my last day was a true testament to the relationships that I was able to build with the students in a few short months.

Having a plan for maximizing the space and student engagement in a classroom is key to providing a successful learning environment.
