A successful/effective teacher should be able to supply acceptable, measurable, and appropriate reports of his/her students’ academic progress. Teachers ensure that their students progress in their education by setting goals that are appropriate for the student and achievable. Documenting the students progress throughout the school year is crucial to providing evidence that goal has been met, this includes the standards set by the state. Communicating the students’ successes and/0r failures to the student/parents is an important aspect of successfully monitoring students academic progress as a teacher in today’s classroom.

Developmental Spelling Analysis is a tool used by educators to measure student’s Orthographic knowledge.  As a part of my class on Language Acquisition, we were afforded the opportunity to go to a school and work with five students at that school to practice administering the developmental spelling analysis (DSA) for each student.
